I think there’s a point in your healing journey where you stop trying to convince other people to do the right thing. You just observe their character, and decide what you are going to allow in your life.

We fall. We break. We fail.
But then,
We rise, we heal,
We overcome.

how did you know
that you were meant to be a healer?
because I kept
falling in love
with broken people.
then why
are you alone?
because I’m broken too
so I am falling
in love with myself
to get a taste
of my own medicine.

The truth is that things
don’t really get solved.
They come together
and fall apart.
They come together again
and fall apart again.
It’s just like that.
The healing comes from
letting there be room for
all of this to happen:
Room for grief,
for relief,
for misery,
for joy.
~ Pema Chodron
Each moment that broke you, made you. All those tears you shed, cleansed your heart of pain. Each broken piece joined together to create a new you. Someone stronger. Someone more powerful and fierce. So, no, I can’t give you a reason why you went through so much pain, but I can tell you the purpose. The purpose was always for you to grow, change, heal and become the best version of yourself. The purpose was for you to become the person that you are today, and that itself should keep you going. That itself should be reason for you to rise once more.
~ Ruby Dhal
Every time you break your own boundary and say yes when you want to say no, you abandon and abuse yourself.
Yes. Every time.
You may believe you’re doing this out of loyalty, friendship, guilt, or love, but mostly you’re hoping that they’ll see how amazing you are so that they choose you.
My loves, it doesn’t work that way.
Choose yourself. Not just once but ongoing.
That’s how you teach people. By you choosing you.
(This is specifically speaking to adult relationships)

“Be confused, it’s where you begin to learn new things.
Be broken, it’s where you begin to heal.
Be frustrated, it’s where you start to make more authentic decisions.
Be sad, because if we are brave enough we can hear our heart’s wisdom through it.
Be whatever you are right now. No more hiding.
You are worthy, always.”
~ S.C. Lourie
With all my heart I urge you to heal.
Take back the power that was stolen from you, right the wrongs, slay the demons and open that Pandora’s box you’re keeping so very tightly closed.
You have one life sweet one, and you deserve it to be beautiful.
You deserve to know what it’s like to be free of the pain they gave you.
You deserve to heal and every day you’re not healing, you’re carrying on a cycle you did not ask for.
If I can ever urge you to do just one thing my friend, it’s to heal.
Begin.
Just by realizing how broken you are.
And how very brave you’ve been.
That’s the key to the box.
Turn it.
It will hurt for a while but you know about hurt already.
It will free you.
Just heal.
~ Donna Ashworth
I wish I could take language
And fold it like cool, moist rags.
I would lay words on your forehead.
I would wrap words on your wrists.
‘There, there,’ my words would say – Or something better.
I would ask them to murmur, ‘Hush’ and ‘Shh, shhh, it’s all right.’
I would ask them to hold you all night.
I wish I could take language
And daub and soothe and cool
Where fever blisters and burns,
Where fever turns yourself against you.
I wish I could take language.
And heal the words that were the wounds.
You have no names for.
